Military Medal 'This N.C.O. on 29th August 1918 near village FOUCAUCOURT South of PERONNE carried on evacuating wounded with his squad for 24 hours. The track was intensely shelled throughout and yet he evacuated 20 patients to a place of safety from an extremely dangerous situation at the greatest personal risk to himself and his men. He displayed fine leadership and firm coolness under fire and spread confidence to all in contact with him.'
