Wounded in action and admitted to 11th Australian Field Ambulance, 23 May 1917 (gun shot wound to head and right arm); transferred to 14th General Hospital, Wimereux, 26 May 1917; to England, 27 May 1917; admitted to Edmonton Military Hospital, England, 27 May 1917; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 18 July 1917; discharged and marched in to Weymouth Command Depot, 23 July 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Paeka', 27 August 1917; disembarked Perth, 14 October 1917; discharged, 2 November 1917.
