Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the morning of 8th August, 1918, near ACCROCHE WOOD. When the advance was being held up by two nests of machine guns, this N.C.O., accompanied by three men, immediately rushed one nest consisting of two guns, bombed the crews out, killing five and capturing twelve prisoners and two machine guns. His courage and coolness set a fine example to his men.'
