War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 27 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 3 April 1916. Wounded in action, 20 April 1916 (slightly: remained at duty). Wounded in action (second occasion), 23 July 1916 (gun shot wound, explosive bullet, penis, testicles); admitted to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 26 July 1916; transferred to England, 12 August 1916, and admitted to Bramshott Military Hospital (wound: severe); transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford (date not recorded); discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 25 November 1916; transferred to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, 30 November 1916 (stricture, urethra); discharged to No 2 Command Depot, 23 January 1917. Detached for duty to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, 31 March 1917. Taken on strength, 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, 23 July 1917.
