Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the enemy counter attack he, at great personal risk, dug out a buried gun and carried it away, thus saving it from capture. He then assisted in organizing a bombing party, which he led, and throughout displayed the greatest courage and dash.'
