Distinguished Conduct Medal 'On 8 September 1918, in the vicinity of Vendelles, the infantry were held up by an enemy machine gun. He worked with his machine gun and one man, round the flank, and, under heavy fire, knocked out the hostile machine gun. Next day while carrying out a daring reconnaissance, he was wounded.'
