Embarked Fremantle on HMAT 'Suevic', 31 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, 21 July 1916.

Admitted to Delhi Hospital, Tidworth, 27 July 1916; discharged to 3rd Training Bn, Perham Downs, 7 August 1916. Proceeded to France, to 5 September 1916; marched into 1st Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 6 September 1916; joined 11th Bn in the field, 17 September 1916; taken as prisoner of war, 15 May 1917, and interned in prison camp for duration of hostilities, Limberg. Arrived Dover after repatriation, 19 December 1918; marched into No 2 Command Depot, 21 January 1919; marched into No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 12 February 1919; moved out from Sutton Veny, 16 April 1919; marched into No 1 Longbridge Group, Deverill, 17 April 1919.

Embarked Devonport and commenced return to Australia on HT 'Soudan', 12 May 1919; disembarked Fremantle, 21 June 1919. Discharged Perth, 5 August 1919.
