Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty. On night 25th/26th May, 1918, near VILLERS BRETONNEUX, Driver WATKINS succeeded, under very intense enemy H.E. and gas shelling, in supplying the front line troops with hot food. On two distinct occasions he took his cooker and team through the barrage (all the while wearing his gas mask), and provided the troops in the new forward line, whicy had been captured from the enemy, with supplies at a critical period. It was only by the courage and determination of Driver WATKINS, that this duty was so successfully done. His bravery was much admired by all ranks.'
