Military Medal

'For bravery in action. From 20th July to 14th August, 1916, 25 days and nights, he was in charge of a visual station KATIB GANIT. On the morning of 4th August, enemy shell destroyed the helio that he was using, and later enemy H.E. shell and enemy snipers fired upon the position. Lance-Corporal Watson remained at his post, continuing to transmit messages, and had a second helio slightly damaged by rifle fire. He showed coolness and courage and exhibited a splendid example of devotion to duty in face of very long odds, and what appeared certain annihilation owing to the heavy shelling of the position by enemy guns. His conduct is deserving of the highest praise.'
