'During the operations East of MONT ST. QUENTIN near PERONNE, on 3rd September 1918, Private WATSON was a member of a bombing party. His party being held up by the enemy with heavy rifle and machine gun fire, he volunteered to accompany the Sergeant in charge, to go forward and try to surprise and disperse the enemy post. He exhibited a total disregard of danger from enemy fire, and by his able assistance, after a sharp fight they were successful in clearing up the position, thus enabling a forward post to be established.'
