Military Medal 'For courage and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. was a member of a party stationed at an advanced Divisional Post near FOUILLOY. During the enemy attack on VILLERS BRETONNEUX on 24th April, 1918, the forward lines from Division to Brigades at CORBIE and the QUARRY south east of FOUILLOY, were subjected to heavy shell fire and continuously broken. This N.C.O. worked courageously and untiringly in going out on these lines repairing them, and maintaining almost uninterrupted communication to Brigades. He performed these duties under severe H.E. and gas bombardment from the enemy, with a total disregard for danger. he rendered valuable assistance to our right flank Division by maintaining a line to the left Brigade of that Division during a period when the Brigade was otherwise out of communication with its Division. By his courage, energy, and devotion to duty he contributed valuable service in the matter of communication between Divisions and Brigades during a critical time.'
