Military Medal 'This N.C.O. was A.M.C. detail attached 1st Field Company, Engineers and during the operations east of YPRES on 4th October 1917 accompanied the Division Company to its work on BECELAERE RIDGE. From the time of commencement till the work was completed he was continually rendering first aid, not only to his worn men but to whoever required his services. He showed great disregard of personal safety and carried out his duties in a most pluck and able manner. He constantly moved from man to man and after doing what he could on the spot, searched for stretchers and arranged for their removal to the dressing station, whilst he remained in the open in spite of very heavy shell and machine gun fire.'
