'During the attack on 30th July No. 3665 Gunner W.A. WAUGH, 53rd Battery, 14th F.A. Bde. was one of a party employed in laying and maintaining a telephone line to a forward O.P. at STATION Buildings. This man displayed the utmost gallantry in passing several times through the hostile barrage and in keeping the line in repair. His conduct throughout the day was a magnificent example to the remainder of the party.'
