'This man was on duty in POLYGON WOOD near Ypres from night 25th/26th September, 1917 to afternoon 27th September, 1917 and on two occasions went out towards the new R.A.P. of 59th Battalion under direct Machine 'Gun fire and shell fire, the only cover being shell holes and brought in three wounded men, dressed them and got them to a place of shelter.'
