Military Medal 'During operations at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 7th October, 1917, Pte. WEARE was engaged in taking rations to the front line. The pack horse of which he was in charge fell into shell holes and became bogged on five occasions throughout the journey. Notwithstanding the fact that he was under very heavy artillery fire he stayed by his horse and with the utmost gallantry got horse and rations safely on the track. Owing to his coolness and courage the necessary rations were delivered and the horse safely returned to the transport lines. This soldier set a fine example of devotion to duty.'
