Distinguished Service Order 'For conspicuous gallantry during operations. He cleared his trench of the enemy with great determination, and, hearing that some of the enemy wanted to surrender, he went towards them and drove them out of the dug-outs with his revolver to the part of the trench held by us, where they were taken by our men. He was wounded at the time.'
