Proceeded to Gallipoli, 29 August 1915. Transferred to hospital ship (enteric), 10 November 1915; transferred to Alexandria, 15 November 1915 and admitted to hospital. Discharged from hospital to commence return to Australia, 8 February 1916. Commenced return to Australia on board 'Nestor' from Suez, 9 February 1916.

Re-embarked from Melbourne on board 'Argyllshire', 3 July 1916. Taken on strength, 21st Bn, 22 November 1916. Wounded in action, 4 October 1917; rejoined unit, 22 November 1917. Transferred to 5th Bn, 29 September 1918; to 24th Bn, 25 November 1918.

Commenced return to Australia, 4 June 1919; disembarked, 17 July 1919; discharged, 31 August 1919.
