Military Cross

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of a fighting patrol. He captured an enemy patrol, and, going forward again, he encountered a large party of the enemy. After a fight against strong opposition, in which four of the enemy were killed, he skilfully withdrew his party, bringing back two of his men who had been wounded.'
