Military Medal

'During the operations on BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 4/5th October, 1917, this N.C.O. was of great assistance in consolidating on the objective. He also pushed forward and dug an advanced post under heavy machine gun fire. His conduct during the hostile bombardment prior to the attack was a splendid example to his Section. After consolidation he led a patrol and searched portions of No Man's Land in the Western edge of Celtic Wood under heavy machine gun fire.'
