Military Medal 'On the night of the 10th August, 1918, near LA FLAQUE, east of AMIENS, he was attached for special duty to No. 3 Section of the Signal Company. He was employed in carrying despatches by Motorcycle from LA FLAQUE to Brigade Headquarters. Throughout the night he made many runs and being a Motor cyclist was forced to use the main road. Although this was being heavily shelled, fiercely swept by enemy machine guns, and frequently bombed by enemy aeroplanes, he paid no regard to his personal safety but delivered all his despatches. He set a splendid example to the remainder of his section.'
