Proceeded overseas to France, 8 July 1918; taken on strength, 2nd Bn, in the field, 18 July 1918.

Wounded in action, 15 August 1918 (shrapnel wound, abdomen), and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station; to No 2 Canadian General Hospital, 16 August 1918; to England, 18 September 1918, and admitted to County of Middlesex War Hospital, Napsbury, 19 September 1918; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 2 October 1918; discharged on furlough, 5 October 1918, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 2 October 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Orontes', 20 December 1918; disembarked Sydney, 1 February 1919; discharged (medically unfit: trench fever), Sydney, 21 March 1919.
