Military Medal

'During the operations 19/22nd September, 1917, east of YPRES, Pte. WILKINS showed exceptional bravery and devotion to duty. He was acting as a stretcher bearer and by his devotion to duty and utter disregard to danger was the means of bringing in many wounded, often crossing the open under heavy machine gun fire to bring in a comrade. His example had a very good effect on the men of his Company and was undoubtedly the means of saving many lives. Throughout the whole of the operations he gave no thought for himself and worked continuously.'
