Military Medal 'On the night of the 21st/22nd August, 1918, near LUC WOOD, on the south of the SOMME, No. 563, Private WILLIAMS was one of a liaison Platoon attached to the Division on our right. The advance of his Section was held up by machine gun fire. private WILLIAMS, acting entirely on his own initiative, rushed the position, killing one of the gunners and taking the others prisoners, thus enabling the advance to be continued at once. His personal example, absolute fearlessness and devotion to duty throughout the whole operations, were such as to put fresh courage into, and greatly improve the morale of his Section. Private WILLIAMS greatly helped on the rapid advance, and through his prompt action, saved many casualties.'
