Wounded in action, 26 March 1917, and admitted to No 3 Australian Casualty Clearing Station the same day (gunshot wound, right thigh); transferred to No 5 General Hospital, Rouen, 30 March 1917; to England, 18 April 1917; to Group 'A' Hospital, Exeter, 19 April 1917; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 20 June 1917.

Marched out of No 4 Command Depot, Codford, 21 July 1917, and proceeded to Overseas Training Depot, Perham Downs, 21 July 1917.
