Together with a friend he came to Adelaide in January 1917 to join the Navy, but not knowing where to go went to the Adelaide Town Hall and joined the Army, signing each other's forms in lieu of parental consent. War service: Western Front Wounded, 27 March 1918, 21 September 1918. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal After the war he joined the South Australian Police Force on 12 May 1923, and retired on 21 July 1952. |
