Embarked Sydney, 8 February 1917; disembarked Devonport, 11 April 1917, and marched in to 5th Training Bn, Rollestone.

Transferred to 62nd Bn, Windmill Hill, 28 April 1917. Found guilty, 20 August 1917, of being absent without leave, noon, 18 August, to noon, 20 August 1917: awarded 3 days confined to barracks, and forfeited 3 days' pay. Transferred to 18th Bn on marching out to 61st Bn (Draft Bn), 19 September 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 9 October 1917; taken on strength, 18th Bn, 14 October 1917.

Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 14 April 1918 (rheumatism); discharged to duty, 15 April 1918; rejoined unit, 16 April 1918.

Transferred to Australian Infantry Base Depot, 27 April 1918; transferred to England, and marched in to No 2 Command Depot, 19 May 1918.

Commenced return to Australia from Liverpool on board HT 'Essex' for discharge (chronic rheumatism), 7 June 1918; disembarked Sydney, 1 August 1918; discharged, Sydney, 26 October 1918 (medically unfit).
