'During operations of 4th LH Regt near KHIRBAT on 25-6-17 he was in charge of a covering party supporting the retirement of a rear guard troop and while his party were retiring a horse fell stunning its rider 1309A Tpr Prior. Corp Williams immediately rode back under heavy rifle and Machine Gun fire and brought back Trp Prior on his (Williams') horse, Prior's having galloped away. Lieut. AUSTIN witnessed this action.'
