Meritorious Service Medal

'FRANCE. During period 22nd September, 1917, to 24th February, 1918. This N.C.O. has shown conspicuous gallantry and devotion in carrying out his duties. on several occasions when guns were put out of action by enemy shell fire or other mishap, he worked on the guns under both shell fire and gas shell bomb ardments, carrying out the necessary repairs. He thus set a splendid example to the whole battery and in no small measure contributed by his work to the general efficiency of the battery. This N.C.O. has had continuous service since August, 1914, and has always shown the keenest interest in his work together with marked devotion to duty.'
