Military Medal

'On night 8th August carried messages to firing line when communications were cut off. Wounded in hand, but returned with despatch before having his hand dressed.' Second description reads: 'Near POZIERES. During the heavy bombardment on the night 8th August, 1916, the only means of communication between Firing Line and Battalion Headquarters was by runners. Private WILLISON carried various messages during the thick of the bombardment, and was badly wounded in the hand whilst taking a message to Battalion Headquarters. He returned with the despatch and handed same over to another runner before attempting to have his hand dressed. Military Medal awarded 28th August, 1916.'
