Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 5 April 1915.

Wounded in action, admitted to No 3 Field Ambulance, then transferred to No 3 Field Ambulance Divisional Collecting Station, Gallipoli, 8 August 1915 (bayonet wound, back); to No 16 Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 15 August 1915; to Convalescent Depot, Mudros, 20 August 1915; to Base Depot, Mudros, 26 August 1916 (Class B); to ANZAC Advanced Base, Mudros, 15 December 1915 (Class A); discharged to rejoin unit, 23 December 1915; rejoined Bn, Tel el Kebir, 29 December 1915.

Found guilty, 29 January 1916, of overstaying leave from 2100 hours , 28 January 1916, until 0930 hours, 29 January 1916: awarded 3 days' confined to camp and forfeited 2 days' pay by Royal Warrant.

Found guilty, 8 February 1916, of (1) talking on parade, (2) not complying with an order, (3) insubordination: awarded 7 days' confined to camp.

Transferred to 54th Bn, 14 February 1916; joined 54th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 16 February 1916.

Found guilty, 29 April 1916, of overstaying leave from 2300 hours, 27 April 1916, until 1200 hours, 28 April 1916: admonished.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.

Posted missing, 19-20 July 1916.
