Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as a Stretcher Bearer on the night 12th/13th August 1918 near LIHONS. While his platoon was engaged constructing a strong point they were heavily shelled, two other ranks being killed and six wounded. Private WINCHESTER assisted by another bearer dressed the wounded and made three trips to a R.A.P. along a track which was heavily barraged the whole time. He showed bravery, determinatiion and devotion to duty and was undoubtedly instrumental in saving life.'
