Admitted to No 8 Field Ambulance, Ferry Post, 12 January 1916 (incontinence of urine); transferred to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Ismailia, 13 January 1916; discharged, 23 January 1916; rejoined 32nd Bn, 24 January 1916. Found guilty, 24 April 1916, of neglect of duty on 23 April 1916 in that he failed to appear on guard mounting parade at 1800 hours with a clean rifle: admonished. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Posted missing, 20 July 1916. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 12 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 20 July 1916'. Statement, Red Cross File No 3000206, 344 Pte R.C.
