War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 1 August 1917; transferred to SS 'Orita', Halifax, Nova Scotia, 21 September 1917; disembarked Liverpool, England, 3 October 1917; marched in to Army Service Corps Training Depot, 4 October 1917. Transferred to Artillery Details, Heytesbury, 12 November 1917. Found guilty, Heytesbury, 5 February 1918, of being late on 9 am parade: confined to barracks for 3 days. Proceeded overseas to France, 7 March 1918; taken on strength, 2nd Division Ammunition Column, in the field, 13 March 1918. Transferred to 5th Field Artillery Brigade, 16 March 1918, and taken on strength, 14th Battery. Wounded in action, 23 August 1918 (multiple shrapnel wounds, right arm, leg, thigh, feet), and admitted to 12th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 20th Casualty Clearing Station. Died of wounds, 53rd Casualty Clearing Station, 24 August 1918. |
