Other details

Sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude for desertion. This was later reduced to 2 years. Attempted to escape when serving this sentence and was shot dead by a sentry. Court of Enquiry found that death was through own default. Campaign awards were forfeited; memorial scroll not issued.
