Sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude for desertion. This was later reduced to 2 years. Attempted to escape when serving this sentence and was shot dead by a sentry. Court of Enquiry found that death was through own default. Campaign awards were forfeited; memorial scroll not issued. Authority for inclusion on the Roll of Honour contained in minutes of the 49th meeting of the Australian war Memorial Board held in Melbourne on 10 December 1956. (see file 746/1/2) |
