'This N.C.O. did brilliant work during the operations near LAGNICOURT on 15th April 1917. He handled his Machine (Lewis) and disposed of an enemy Machine Gun and crew on the ridge. He also assisted very materially in driving the enemy out of LAGNICOURT, by enfilade fire at close quarters, during which he was subjected to heavey Machine Gun and rifle fire.'
