Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 20th October, 1917, while in charge of a party carrying ammunition from INFERNO Dump to the 43rd Battery at TOKIO (near ZONNEBEKE) heavy shell fire was encountered. With great skill and coolness Corporal BROGAN split up his party and led them through the barrage and succeeded in delivering the urgently required ammunition to the Battery. Corporal BROGAN's horse was killed under him and he was badly shaken, but he stuck to his work until the ammunition had been delivered and his party has returned to camp. He was the only N.C.O. of this Section who completed two trips on this occasion. His work on this, and all other occasions, has been of great value and a splendid example to all ranks.'
