Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, Gallipoli, 12 September 1915; transferred to 16th Casualty Clearing Station (enteritis), 13 September 1915; to 19th General Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt, 20 September 1915. Discharged to Convalescent Hospital, Zeitoun, 16 November 1915. Rejoined Bn, 5 March 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 16 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 21 March 1916.

Injured foot, 21 July 1916; transferred to England, 13 August 1916. Marched out to commence return to Australia, 20 February 1917; commenced return to Australia on board HS 'Karoola', 22 February 1917. Discharged as medically unfit, 7 June 1917
