When the N.C.O. in charge of the runners was wounded he took charge and throughout the operations maintained charge and throughout the operations maintained an efficient service of runners in spite of half the runners becoming casualties. His untiring energy and cheerfulness under the most adverse circumstances set a splendid example to the remaining runners.'
