Military Medal 'Displayed exceptional bravery and devotion to duty during the operations at POZIERES of the 2nd Australian Division in ALBERT area. He was called out several times daily to repair his lines often under heavy shell fire and on the night 4th/5th August, 1916, he twice passed through a barrage of fire and repaired lines to 5th Infantry Brigade.'
