Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 4 April 1915.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 March 1916.

Found guilty, 30 March 1916, of being absent without leave from 6 pm parade: forfeited 5 days' pay.

Admitted to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, 17 July 1916 (malaria); transferred by Ambulance Train No 19 to 9th General Hospital, 18 July 1916, and thence to 1st Australian General Hospital, Rouen; discharged to Base Details, 20 July 1916 (no evident sign of disease).

Wounded in action, 21 August 1916 (gun shot wound, chest; compound fracture, leg), and admitted to 4th Field Ambulance.

Died of wounds, 22 August 1916.
