Transferred to 4th Mobile Veterinary Section, Maadi, 22 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 13 June 1916.

Appointed Driver, 31 August 1917; reverted to Private, 1 January 1918.

On leave to England, 14 February 1918.

Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 25 February 1918, while on leave; discharged to Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, 28 February 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 4 days.

Marched into No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 17 April 1918; marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, 18 April 1918.

Found guilty, 11 July 1918, of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline in that he at Pasrkhouse 26.4.18 was in possession of P[ay] B[ook] No 71108 in which the entry of the amount paid to him on 24.4.18 had been improperly altered from 15/- to 5/-: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Proceeded overseas to France, 15 August 1918, and taken on strength of Australian Veterinary Hospital, Calais.`Posted to 1st Australian Veterinary Evacuation Station, 8 September 1918.

Embarked Havre for Australia, 13 October 1918; admitted to 4th Southern General Hospital, Devonport, England, 18 October 1918 (influenza); marched into Details Camp, Devonport, from hospital, 7 November 1918.

Commenced return to Australia , 3 December 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 27 January 1919; discharged, Melbourne, 28 March 1919.
