War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 15 May 1915. Awarded special mention in Divisional Orders for acts of conspicuous gallantry 'on the occasion of the demonstration made by the 2nd Light Horse Brigade on 12th July, 1915', 19 July 1915 (Lt Ferguson 'handled his troop with great gallantry, and helped to carry in a wounded N.C.O. at the end of the action under heavy fire'). Admitted to Blue Sisters Hospital, Malta, 4 September 1915 (debility); discharged fit for active service, 8 September 1915, and embarked for Egypt same day. Mentioned in Despatches. Embarked Alexandria for Gallipoli, 10 October 1915; rejoined 1st Australian Division for duty, 17 October 1915. Appointed Temporary Captain as from 22 October 1915.
