Killed in action, 19/20 July 1916.

Buried at Rue de Bois Cemetery by Reverend G. W. B. Statt, 20 July 1916.

Statement, Red Cross File No 2700512, Lt Sorenson, 17 December 1916: 'His left arm was shot off below the elbow and the fingers of the right hand were destroyed. Informant confirms the report of Lieut. R. Healy on the 14th and said that Captain Taylor died of shock, and perhaps if the Stretcher Bearer had not told him where he was wounded he might have lived.'

Second statement, 3122 Sergeant PITT (patient, No 12 General Hospital, Rouen), 13 November 1916: 'Capt. Taylor was badly wounded at Fromelles, his left arm being blown off. He asked the stretcher bearer if he was much hurt, and he told him what had happened. He died before he reached the dressing station. I witnssed the casualty.'Third statement, 3525 Pte F.J. OHLSON, 54th Bn (patient, Northants War Hospital, Duston, England), 18 November 1916: 'Informant states that on July 19th at Fleirbaix, Capt. Taylor was killed by a pineapple (trench mortar). He was severely wounded and died on his way to the dressing station. He is buried in a proper grave near Fleurbaix. Informant was an eye-witness.'

Fourth statement, 3483 Pte P.J. CARRIGY, 54th Bn (patient, 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford,England), 29 November 1916: 'Witness states that he saw the above hit in our trenches at Fleurbaix on July 19th, between 4,30 and 5 p.m. The casualty occurred just before a charge was made, and was caused by a German Trench Mortar. Capt. Taylor's arm was blown off and his leg completely shattered. Witness saw him carried out. He was unconscious and probably dad. Witness does not know where he was buried.'
