Military Medal 'For great gallantry during the enemy attack at DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 5th April, 1918. he did exeptionally good work, attacking an enemy strong post with rifle grenades, killing several of the garrison and driving the remainder out. After the line had been re-established, he volunteered as a stretcher bearer and did very fine work, carrying out the wounded under intense Machine Gun and Rifle fire.'
