Military Medal 'During the attack on MONTBREHAIN, east of PERONNE, on 5th October, 1918, this man acted as a Company runner. A volunteer, he accompanied an Officer on a very important and dangerous reconnaissance, and during their passage on the village, the enemy were seen to be preparing for a counter attack. Regardless of danger BROWN rushed out into the open, where he used his rifle to such good effect, that he killed two of the enemy and thus caused the attack to break down. Throughout the day he displayed an utter disregard of danger and repeatedly, in the face of the heaviest machine gun and shell fire, carried messages between the foremost posts and Company Headquarters.'
