Found guilty, Codford, 12 April 1918, of being absent without leave from midnight, 6 April, to 8.45 pm, 9 April 1918: awarded forfeiture of 3 days' pay; total forfeiture: 6 days' pay.

Found guilty, 19 April 1918, of (1) being absent without leave, Southampton, from 8.30 am, 13 April, to 4.30 pm, 15 April 1918; (2) assaulting Military Police: awarded 28 days' detention, and forfeiture of a total of 34 days' pay.

Admitted to Devizes Detention Barracks, 22 April 1918. Unexpired portion (4 days) of sentence remitted as from 12 May 1918.

Found guilty, 24 May 1918, of being absent without leave, London, from 0100, 13 May, until 1200, 16 May 1918: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 11 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 27 May 1918; taken on strength, 32nd Bn, in the field, 8 June 1918.

Admitted to 15th Australian field Ambulance, 18 June 1918 (not yet diagnosed), and transferred same day to 12th Casualty Clearing Station; casualty classified as neurasthenia, 8 July 1918; transferred to Ambulance Train No 5, 18 July 1918, and admitted to 12th General Hospital, Rouen, 19 July [wrongly entered as August] 1918; marched in to Base Depot, Havre, 28 July 1918.

Found guilty, 6 August 1918, of being in town without a pass, Rouelles, and being absent without leave from 9.30 pm, 2 August, until 7 pm, 3 August 1918: awarded forfeiture of 14 days' pay, and forfeited 1 day's pay under Royal Warrant.

Marched out to unit, 7 August 1918; Court of Enquiry, Bray, 8 September 1918, declared him to be an illegal absentee.

Rejoined 32nd Bn (under escort), 19 September 1918.

Admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 15 October 1918 (scabies); transferred to Divisional Rest Station, 15 October 1918.

Reported absent from Rest Station without authority, 4 November 1918; traced in Paris, 31 December 1918, and awaiting escort.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ascanius', 23 September 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 6 November 1919; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), Melbourne, 6 December 1919.
