Military Medal 'During the recent operations in which this Battalion was engaged between the 24th and 28th September Corporal Brown was attached to the 14th Field Company Engineers as N.C.O. in charge of Fatigue Party engaged in the building of a strong point near the 'BUTTE'. For three days during the day time his party worked on the strong point, and during the night assisted in wiring the Brigade Front. His party suffered severe casualties throughout the whole task - he set a splendid example to the men under him by his great courage, devotion to duty, and determination to get the work done.'
