Admitted to Cottenera Hospital, Malta, 2 July 1915 (cellulites of the knee); transferred to St Patrick's Hospital, 22 August 1915; proceeded to Egypt, 6 October 1915; disembarked Mustapha, Egypt and reported to overseas Training Base, 9 October 1915; rejoined unit in Mudros, 27 October 1915; disembarked Alexandria, Egypt, 1 January 1916; taken on strength of 12th Field Artillery Brigade, Tel el Kabir and mustered Gunner, 16 March 1916; transferred and taken on strength of 4th Divisional Ammunition Column, Serapeum, 23 May 1916.

Proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force, Alexandria, 6 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 13 June 1916; mustered Driver, 29 June 1916.

Found guilty, 21 July 1916, of using obscene language: awarded 2 days' Field Punishment No 2.
