Military Medal 'During the operations carried out by the 14th Australian Infantry Brigade near MORLANCOURT on 29th July 1918 this N.C.O. showed great courage and coolness when his gun crew were knocked out by enemy shell fire. He personally took a wounded man to the dressing station and returned to his battle position, carrying on single handed, thus keeping his gun ready for action until relieved.'
