Discharged from hospital and embarked for Egypt on board HT 'Lake Manitoba', 2 December 1915. Wounded in action, France, 28 July 1916; rejoined Bn, 12 August 1916. Promoted Corporal, 29 July 1916. Wounded in action (2nd occasion), 23 August 1916 (gun shot wound, left shoulder); transferred to England, 31 August 1916, and admitted to 2nd Southern General Hospital, Bristol (wound severe).
